Cameron Diaz has beat the odds and come through smoothly unscathed. With her breakout role in The Mask, she electrified audiences opposite the manic and crazy Jim Carrey. Following that, she virtually disappeared for a few years. A role as Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat did not pan out after she injured her hand in training.
Feeling under pressure after The Mask, she made a move away from the heavily marketed and hyped Hollywood lifestyle and took roles in a string of independent productions. Cameron was born August 30th, 1972. She grew up in Long Beach, California. Her mix of Cuban and Anglo-German heritage, along with others, have formed a beautiful and exotic appeal. It was no surprise that at the young age of 16, she embarked on a modeling career. The determined Diaz even convinced her parents to let her and a 15 year-old friend venture to Japan to gain some world experience. Before returning to California and pursuing an acting career, Cameron traveled the globe.
